SEPTEMBER DROP: Colombian gesha natural

The September drop has arrived!

We are beyond thrilled and excited to share this incredible coffee with you all, and tell you more about the producer whose hard work and ingenuity make it such an amazing crop. The producer we are highlighting today is Julio Madrid, owner and operator of Finca la Riviera and Cafe Uba, located in Risaralda, Colombia.

Julio is committed to quality and excellence in his coffee production, and is known for his innovative processing methods. His creativity, combined with his unrelenting standards of quality, create amazing coffees frequently used for high-level coffee competitions.

His family has owned the land for decades, and the farm has been operating for over 40 years.

Julio implements unique processing methods at his farm, Finca la Riviera.

The September drop is a Gesha Natural. We absolutely love this coffee - it’s very fruit-forward and inherently sweet. We tasted blackberry, raspberry, fruit punch, and red wine while cupping this coffee. A Gesha varietal is renowned and enjoyed for its complexity and is used in competitions around the world. Gesha varietals require a lot of careful time and attention from producers, and need to be watered frequently. This varietal also produces less coffee cherries and smaller coffee cherries. This is one reason why the Gesha is typically priced higher than other coffee varietals.

We’re so happy to showcase Julio Madrid and the incredible work of Cafe Uba. Due to our unique business model, we’re able to provide this coffee for half of the typical price, while still ensuring we pay the producers first and fairly. Our passion is sharing incredible coffees with you all, and we can’t wait to hear what you think about this one. Try our September drop, before it’s gone!
